Who is the ideal candidate for bariatric surgery?
  • The ideal candidate is aged 18-60 and has a BMI >35 with co-morbid conditions such as diabetes, sleep apnea, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, gastroesophageal reflux disease, osteoarthritis, and other conditions exacerbated by their obesity.
  • Click here to refer a patient to one of the CSG Bariatric providers and to have our receptionist contact the patient for an appointment.
What is needed to refer a patient to the program at Connecticut Surgical Group, affiliated with Hartford Hospital?
  • Documentation of medically-supervised weight loss including pharmacotherapy, behavior modification, nutrition education, and/or monthly visits with PCP or medical specialist is helpful but not necessarily required.
Are informational sessions available for medical staff?
