The Surgical Weight Loss Program is a joint venture between Connecticut Surgical Group and Hartford Hospital. This comprehensive program began when Dr. Darren S. Tishler joined Connecticut Surgical Group in August 2004. In January 2005, Dr. Tishler performed the first minimally invasive procedure for weight loss at Hartford Hospital. In January 2008, Dr. Pavlos K. Papasavas joined the Surgical Weight Loss Program, bringing with him significant surgical experience and the same focus on safe and effective surgical treatment for weight loss.
Our Goals
To ensure the highest quality of care for each patient using a comprehensive approach and minimally invasive procedures. To achieve that goal we have established a comprehensive program using the most up-to-date equipment and technology. Since every person is unique, we provide individualized care catering to the needs of each person through the use of multiple resources and services. Obesity is an abundance of fat. Obesity is measured by calculating an individual's body mass index (BMI) through height and weight. Morbid obesity is a medical term used to refer to the condition of significant obesity that results in decreased quality of life and increased risk of early death.

- Chronic health conditions associated with obesity are called co-morbidities. They include: diabetes, obstructive sleep apnea, heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, osteoarthritis (joint inflammation), depression, and more.
